DUAL premiership captain of the Adelaide Crows, Mark Bickley, is cutting ties with his Novar Gardens family home in pursuit of greener pastures.

The local footy legend and Advertiser sports columnist has listed his five-bedroom home at 34 Old Drive with Magain Real Estate, priced at $750,000 to $795,000.

Mr Bickley said he was sad to leave the family home of almost nine years but it was time to move on.

“We want something with a bit more yard space. We’re on 600sqm here which is magnificent, but with growing kids — two boys under the age of nine — we want a yard where they are able to kick a footy around,” he said.

The couple purchased the home as a renovation project in early 2009 and have since moulded it to suit their family needs.

“When we bought the home is was run down and we’ve done a lot of work on it over the years,” he said.

“It now has quite a versatile floorplan which has suited our family well.”

Boasting an impressive 232sqm floorplan, the home features multiple living spaces and five bedrooms — two of which connect to a rumpus room.

A modern kitchen with breakfast bar, stainless steel appliances and ample cupboard and bench space mark the heart of the home and flank an informal dining area and combined meals/living space.

An L-shaped veranda, meanwhile, folds around the rear of the home and offers access to an undercover alfresco area with ceiling fan and views across the backyard.

Notable features of the home also include a garden shed, floating timber floors to the main living spaces and ducted reverse cycle airconditioning.

While admitting he’d never watched a grand finale at the home — due to his commitment as a sports commentator — Mr Bickley said the property had been the perfect place to entertain family and friends.

“It’s been a really good family home and Novar Gardens has a real sense of community,” he said.

“We often just set out the front of the home watching the sunset and conversing with the neighbours as they walked past.

“We’ve become friends with a lot of them over the years and we all look out for each other. “That is something we really enjoyed about living here and we’re really going to miss that.”
